Meet Our Dance Teachers

Gillian Moore, Director

A.R.A.D, Dip in Ballet, (University of Cape Town) Registered Teacher R.A.D. BBO and NZAMD)
Gillian trained in South Africa and has taught, lectured, examined and adjudicated for 40 years. Gillian served on the Regional Advisory Panel of the Royal Academy of Dance for many years and managed a private ballet school as well as teaching for the Department of Education in Cape Town. Gillian has many past pupils who have continued their careers as professional dancers and teachers. Since moving to New Zealand, Gillian Qualified as a Social Worker whilst at the same time establishing the Dance School in Papamoa. The school has established itself as a highly acclaimed dance school in the Tauranga area. 

Hannah Robson

Hannah is originally from the UK where she trained professionally at Phil Winstons TheatreWorks for 3 years in Ballet, Jazz, Commercial Jazz, Contemporary, Tap, Musical Theatre, Singing and Acting.  Hannah is a qualified Dance Teacher and holds an Associate Degree in Dance and a Diploma in Anatomy with the International Dance Teachers Association. She has several years’ experience teaching and choreographing at a performing arts School in Manchester, UK.  Hannah moved to New Zealand in November 2013. She has a big passion for Dance and Choreography and loves to pass on her knowledge and experience to others.

Alice Richardson

Alice is a fully qualified RAD Ballet teacher. Alice was born in the United Kingdom where she began her training at the Susan Taylor Dance Academy. From the early age of 3 she sat exams in ISTD Ballet, Tap and Modern dance. In 2009 Alice immigrated to New Zealand where she continued her dance training at the Gillian Moore School of Dance. Sitting her vocational Ballet exams including her Adv2 RAD ballet and exams in NZAMD Jazz. Alongside teaching Alice is an artist in her spare time. Alice has a huge passion for the Arts and is currently teaching RAD Ballet at the Gillian Moore School of Dance where she loves to pass on her passion and knowledge. 

Sue-Weaver

Sue Weaver

Sue is a fully qualified Tap (BBO) and Jazz (JDNZ, NZAMD) teacher and danced and taught in Taranaki and Auckland before moving to Tauranga. Sue has had a long career dancing in theatre, competitions and grade work and is classically trained by Val Deakin. Sue has taught for many years and teaches Tap, Hip Hop and Jazz at the studio.

 

Jenny-Atkins

Jenny Atkins

Jenny began teaching at Gillian Moore School of Dance in 2011, the same year she completed her Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) teaching qualifications. She grew up in Tauranga and practiced and competed successfully in many dance styles. At the age of 16 she got Distinction in her Advanced 2 RAD exam, which qualified her to compete in the prestigious Genee International competition. She then studied full-time at what is now known as The National College in Newcastle Australia, it was here she gained her RAD Solo-Seal, and again competed at the Genee. After dancing in Switzerland and New York Jenny returned to New Zealand and gained a Batchelor of Health Science (Human Biology), and a Masters of Osteopathy. Jenny and her husband Peter have two young girls together.

Parents are welcome to observe classes through the viewing window. The last week of every term parents will be allowed into the studio or dance room to observe classes. You are kindly requested not to talk and to switch all mobile phones off when entering the Dance studio. No photographs or videos to be taken during lesson. Should you wish discuss the pupils progress please arrange a time outside of lesson time.
